When Souls First Met

A Poem of Love Beyond Flesh

The winds were still,
emotions asleep,
and the souls —
lonely echoes
lost in time...

When your gaze first
touched the silence in mine,
not a word was spoken,
not a song was sung,
yet one moment
stood still for an eternity —
and soul recognized soul.

Were you a mirror,
or was I your reflection?
Your breath began
to echo in my heartbeat,
like a forgotten prayer
remembered in dusklight.

Love arrived
like a soft golden sun
melting into my bones,
and your name
became the peace
my lips longed to utter.

You were in every breath,
and I, in every hush between…
Your words dissolved
into the ink of my being.

We did not merely love —
we worshipped,
chanting each other
like sacred verses,
tender as twilight.

The nights were no longer lonely,
they lay curled
in the cradle of your dreams,
and the dawn —
dawn wore your smile
like vermilion on its brow.

But then...
some star above shifted,
and time,
in its cruel divinity,
pulled us apart.

Separation —
not a pause, but a tearing,
like skin peeled from soul.
Your memories
became thorns
woven into my pulse.

Every sound
whispered your name.
Every shadow
ached to trace your footprints.

Without you,
life was no life at all —
just a long, slow sentence
between breath and burial.

But love…
ah, love!
It burned,
soft and steady,
through the hollow of loss,
and souls…
they never die.

One day,
the cosmos took pity.
Fate uncurled its fist.
And our souls —
they met again.

That reunion
was not a chance,
but a divine decree,
scribed in the ink of longing
on heaven’s parchment.

When I held your hand again,
light burst
through the cave of my chest.
And your smile —
it opened a door
into paradise.

Now, no more partings.
No more distance.
We are soul to soul,
forever intertwined.

You and I —
no longer two,
but a single breath,
a single vow,
a single silence.

And when someone asks,
"What is love?"
I’ll whisper your name…
and my soul
will smile.
