(Hindi: वादा तो नहीं था - भाग प्रथम)
There was no vow
I made to life,
No wish to breathe
Without you beside.
Yet you walked
Beyond my hold,
Left the air
Empty and cold.
Each morning since
Feels strangely still,
Even tea tastes
Of your name and will.
Walls still wear
Your silent trace,
Night hums your song
In the moonlight’s grace.
The flowers bloom
Yet hide their hue,
Since the day
They lost sight of you.
The turn you took
Still holds its breath,
Even roads forgot
What lies ahead.
I thought life
Would mean just us,
But life now
Doesn’t talk much.
A hush in air
Still whispers you,
Your fading touch
Feels fresh as dew.
Every season
Calls your name,
And no other song
Sounds the same.
What slipped away
In one soft sigh,
Became my tale
That won’t say goodbye.
In light of memory
I somehow survive,
I never meant
To live this life.
There was no vow
I made to life,
No wish to breathe
Without you beside.
