Understand the Silence - An Ode to the Power of Silence

Understand the silence, dear heart,

It speaks without a sound or chart.

It whispers truths the tongue won’t dare,

A voiceless song that fills the air.

For silence is not empty space—

It holds a world, a sacred place.

Though quiet lips may seem so still,

They echo louder than a will.

It tells of sorrow, screams of pain,

Of joy that words cannot contain.

Of love unspoken, fierce and true,

And storms the soul is walking through.

Silence has no native tongue,

No anthem sung, no bell that’s rung.

It needs no phrase, no scripted role,

And yet it dialogues with the soul.

It has no taste, no shape, no hue,

Yet it reveals what’s pure and true.

A mirror deep, without disguise,

Where truth is seen in soundless eyes.

At times, it cuts just like a blade,

A sword in silence, finely made.

At times, it blooms with thoughtful grace,

A gentle light in shadow’s place.

It is assent—without a nod,

A quiet yes that honors God.

It is denial—calm, profound,

That shakes the earth without a sound.

It is a quarrel left unsaid,

Where tempers cool and tears are shed.

It is the balm when hearts are sore,

A hush where peace begins to pour.

It is in love's most tender gaze,

More eloquent than verbal praise.

It is the prayer no voice can pray,

Yet reaches Heaven all the way.

Who has ever conquered silence?

Its strength is vast, beyond defiance.

A silent soul may rule the air,

With quiet force beyond compare.

So learn to listen, not just hear—

The truth may speak when none are near.

For silence, though it makes no claim,

Holds more than words could ever name.

Understand the silence, friend—

It is the start, it is the end.

Where all things hidden find release—

In silence dwells the deepest peace.
